"Black Diamonds" have been long known as the most challenging and rewarding of downhill runs for skiers. Being a pickup known for appealing to those with a zeal for adventure, it’s only fitting that the last run of Avalanche is named after such a feat. It’s the vehicle that can transform from an SUV into a pickup truck quicker than you can plan your next destination. With the split-folding rear bench seat down and the Midgate® lowered, you’ve got the capability of a full-size pickup truck with the comfortable interior of an upscale SUV. From everyday travels to chasing adventure, the 2013 Black Diamond Avalanche is there to let you take it all on.
To mark the last run of this classic dual vehicle, Chevrolet is commemorating the 2013 Black Diamond Avalanche. It’s undeniable that this vehicle stands out with new features on LS such as power-adjustable pedals, Remote vehicle starter system, foglamps and rear parking assist. Both LS and LT come with new standard features such as matching body-color exterior components and a rear vision camera system. All of the features listed above remain standard on LTZ.
Every 2013 Avalanche will be adorned with a Black Diamond badge and will come standard with a rear vision camera system, body-color exterior components, Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist, remote vehicle starter system, power-adjustable pedals and foglamps.
The Avalanche cargo box features a lockable tailgate, rubber bed mats rigid tonneau cover and top box storage. It can accommodate 4’x 8′ building materials, has a 50-inch-wide cargo bed and offers 45.5 cubic feet of cargo space1. When it comes to storage capacity, Avalanche has the largest trunk in the industry2.
No matter what your Avalanche has to do, it accomplishes the task with plenty of comfort and style. For 2013, an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror now comes standard on both LS and LT. The roomy interior holds up to six passengers3 comfortably and offers a host of features.
If you choose LT, your leather-appointed front seats are heated. Opt for an Avalanche LTZ and you get a heated steering wheel, plus leather-appointed 12-way power front bucket seats that are heated — and cooled — for year-round comfort.
You and your front-seat passenger can each control your own temperatures. Manual control is standard on the LS, while automatic controls are standard on LT and LTZ.
Luxury and necessity come together when you’re able to start your vehicle from inside your home or office. This feature comes standard on the 2013 Black Diamond Avalanche.
Avalanche offers up to 8,100 lbs. of towing capability4 to haul big items such as boats, snowmobiles or motorcycles. Thanks to its coil-spring suspension, it doesn’t sacrifice ride quality.
Avalanche packs the right combination of horsepower and torque to handle bigger payloads. The standard 5.3L Vortec V8 delivers 320 horsepower and 335 lb.-ft. of torque, giving you the power to take what’s inside or behind where it needs to go.
This smart technology activates all engine cylinders when more power is needed and deactivates four of the eight cylinders with seamless precision to conserve fuel. This helps Avalanche offer an impressive EPA-estimated 21 MPG highway and a driving range of up to 650 Highway miles when running on gas5.
The flexibility continues at the pump with the standard FlexFuel-capable engine, which can run on either unleaded fuel or E85, a combination of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline6.
Avalanche offers available touch-screen navigation with a 30 GB hard drive that lets you store your favorite music. Features include voice recognition and SiriusXM integration with a 90-day trial of SiriusXM NavTraffic7, a choice of 2-D or 3-D full-color map displays, plus a pause-and-play feature that gives you the ability to pause a live radio broadcast. Available on LT and standard on LTZ.
A rear seat entertainment system is also available on LT and LTZ. The system includes DVD playback that comes with two sets of wireless headphones and auxiliary input jacks to plug in your video game consoles and other devices.
There are three stages of safety, and Avalanche takes every one of them as seriously as you do. While we can't promise you'll never have a collision, we can promise we've done everything we can to help prevent one and help protect you before, during and after.
Six air bags8, are standard in Avalanche, including head-curtain side-impact air bags and front-seat-mounted side-impact air bags. These are in addition to the standard dual-stage frontal, driver and right-front passenger air bags with the Passenger Sensing System. You’re also surrounded by a high-strength steel safety cage and strategically placed crush zones to help absorb and channel crash energy in case of a collision.
